Urgent Action for Venezuela Feb24

We have issued a new Urgent Action calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Rocio San Miguel, who has been arbitrarily detained, along with her daughter, two brothers, father, and former partner. Rocio is a lawyer, professor, and human rights defender in Venezuela; she is the current president of Control Cuidadano, a non-governmental organisation investigating human rights issues in Venezuela. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send the Urgent Action to the address stated in the Action, post on twitter, or take any other steps
More widely, we have co-signed a statement alongside other human rights organisations condemning the announced expulsion of members of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Venezuela, noting that government repression has intensified ahead of the Presidential elections scheduled this year.
As a reminder, and for those who haven’t already, we would also ask that members sign our January Urgent Actions calling for the halting of a bill limiting the freedoms of non-governmental organisations and for the unconditional release of Emirlendris Benitez, Juan Carlos Marrufo, and Maria Auxiliadora Delgado; we remain concerned for the health of all three individuals. My thanks to all of those who have taken action so far. Please do contact James if you would like to discuss.
